For hospitality projects, the studio may collaborate with interior designers, architects, art consultants, developers, ownership groups and creative teams from initial concept through the completed artwork.
Scale, viewing distance, placement, surrounding materials, lighting conditions and installation requirements may all become part of the creative development.

The process can begin early, while the interior is still being developed, or once a particular location for artwork has been established.
Depending on the commission, the studio can work from architectural drawings, elevations, photographs, material palettes and dimensions to understand the context in which the artwork will live.
Commissions may include painting, mixed media, real glass neon sculpture or site-specific artwork, with scale and placement considered in relation to the surrounding architecture.
The creative objective remains the same: an authentic work by the artist that has a meaningful relationship with its setting.

Sunseri accepts select commissions for real glass neon sculptures and mixed-media works incorporating hand-bent illuminated glass.
In text-based works, the language can be developed in Sunseri's own handwriting, creating an original handwritten composition that becomes the source drawing for the finished glass work.
A commission may begin with a word, phrase, concept, emotion, drawing or architectural condition. Scale, proportion, color, placement, surrounding materials and the relationship between illumination and space may inform its development.
Works may exist as standalone neon sculptures or combine painting, mixed media and hand-bent glass neon within a single composition.
Select commissions may also include original real glass neon chandeliers and site-responsive installations in which hand-bent glass neon is conceived in dialogue with furniture, mirrors, stone, wood, wallpaper or other suitable surfaces or objects. Material compatibility, scale, electrical requirements, fabrication, mounting, installation and site conditions are evaluated for each commission.

For select projects, Sunseri develops site-specific artwork and installations in response to architectural scale, sightlines, material surroundings, movement through the space and the experience of encountering the work.
These commissions may incorporate glass neon, painting, mixed media or sculptural elements, depending on the artistic direction of the project.

An artwork does not need to be permanent to be significant.
Sunseri can create original commissioned works for private events, brand environments, launches, celebrations, cultural events and temporary installations.
These may include sculptural art objects, illuminated works, custom neon, mixed-media constructions, artistic set pieces and large-format installations conceived specifically for the occasion.
The distinction is important: these are not conventional event props or generic décor. They are artist-created objects and installations, developed with the same visual consideration as permanent work, but designed to exist within the particular world of an event.
Where appropriate, a commissioned piece may also be conceived so that it can continue to live as an artwork after the event itself has ended.
Select commissions may also include original real glass neon for weddings and private celebrations, stages, concerts and music venues, and restaurants, clubs and hotels—always as original work by the artist rather than standardized or rental signage, and subject to venue, electrical, fabrication and installation requirements.

Every commission begins with a conversation.

Creative Brief
The initial consultation establishes the nature of the project: the space, intended experience, approximate dimensions, visual direction, practical requirements, budget parameters and desired completion date.

Concept Development
For architectural and site-specific commissions, photographs, plans, elevations, measurements and relevant interior materials may become part of the discussion. From there, Sunseri develops the artistic direction.

Sketches, Visuals & Renderings
Depending upon the complexity of the project, this may include concept sketches, material studies, visual references, digital compositions or renderings that allow the client and project team to understand the proposed work in context before fabrication begins.

Approval
Once the concept, scope and schedule are approved, the work moves into creation.

Creation & Fabrication
The process is collaborative where it needs to be, but the finished work remains an original expression of the artist.

For larger installations, Sunseri can coordinate with the appropriate designers, architects, fabricators, contractors, installers and production teams as required by the project.
