The Artist
Missy
Sunseri
"Art may be everything or nothing. I have always chosen its side. The soul already knows why."

Biography
Missy Sunseri is an Italian-Greek visionary artist, subconscious alchemist, and creative force based between Los Angeles and Pittsburgh. A lifelong artist, she has been creating since childhood, developing a deeply intuitive visual language long before formal recognition found her work. Entirely self-taught, Missy approaches art as both a spiritual practice and a catalyst for personal transformation.
A former Division I athlete, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is a certified clinical hypnotherapist. Through her private healing practice, The Natural Mind, she specializes in subconscious transformation and emotional healing. It was within the sacred journey of trauma recovery that painting emerged as both medicine and medium, becoming a powerful channel for self-discovery, expression, and healing.
Working through her natural mediumship, Missy creates emotionally immersive works using custom neon light, acrylic, spray paint, mixed media, and found relics. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind couture creation layered with hidden symbolism, texture, emotion, spirit memory, and subconscious resonance. Her artworks function as encoded transmissions — inviting viewers beyond the surface and into a deeper dialogue with themselves.
At the heart of Missy’s artistic philosophy is authenticity and freedom. She believes there is no right or wrong way to experience art; every viewer brings their own story, perspective, and meaning to a piece. Her work exists without boundaries, celebrating individuality and encouraging people to explore the depths of their own minds and emotions. Through hidden messages, tactile layers, and energetic intention, she seeks to create art that activates, awakens, and liberates.
Inspired by her travels throughout Europe, particularly Italy and Paris, and deeply attuned to the mystical frequencies of healing and transformation, Missy’s work transforms loss into legacy and vision into vibration. Through light, texture, symbolism, and psychic depth, she invites viewers into a state of remembrance — where art becomes both mirror and portal.
Missy’s work includes original canvas paintings, illuminated neon artworks, mixed-media sculptures, and immersive installations. Her collections are featured at Duroque Gallery in West Hollywood, where her distinctive fusion of fine art, healing, and visionary storytelling continues to captivate collectors, designers, and art enthusiasts alike.
Statement
I am interested in what remains when the loud parts of a painting are taken away. A line of light along a wall. The faint warmth of a wax surface. The way one passage of grey can hold a room.
The work begins with a question — usually about light, sometimes about distance — and proceeds slowly, in revisions. Months will pass and a canvas will not be finished. Some paintings ask to be quiet for a long time.
I think of each piece as something built to be lived with. Not declared at, but kept company by.

Process
Inside the studio
The paintings are made on Belgian linen, sized by hand. The ground is built in layers of gesso and pumice, then sanded and sanded again. Oil, wax, plaster, and occasionally oxidized metal are worked in over weeks.
Every work is signed, dated, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Editioned works are limited and numbered.
